Preschoolers visit media in Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Subotica
The third Media Literacy Open Days began today with a visit by preschoolers to media in Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Subotica, and with a training for teachers and expert associates at a preschool institution in Subotica.
The goal of all these activities is to raise awareness of preschool age children about media literacy by directly familiarising them with the way media function and work, within the special Media with Wide Open Doors campaign, and with the constant activity of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media aimed at training teachers and expert associates on this topic.
Preschoolers had an opportunity to enter the studios of Radio Belgrade, Radio Television of Vojvodina, Naxi Radio, Prva TV and TV Panon. As part of the same campaign, a special programme for preschoolers was also organised by the PE Transmitters and Communications at the Avala Tower, where the children were also joined by amateur radio operators of Banjica.
A group of 40 preschoolers made a guest appearance on Radio Belgrade, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its existence. Also, in Subotica, the little ones visited TV Panon, and at the same time, a training on media literacy among preschoolers was held for teachers from the Preschool Institution Naša Radost from Subotica.
This event, organised by the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media for the third consecutive year, will last from 14 to 18 October. The Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media has organised, in cooperation with the Council of Europe, Media Literacy Open Days twice so far, developed a number of materials suitable for working with preschoolers on this topic, and conducted an extensive survey on the said topic.
Also since the beginning of this year, the Regulator has held trainings for teachers and expert associates of preschool institutions in Novi Sad, Niš, Kraljevo, and Čačak, which were attended by 190 teachers and expert associates from Serbia.
